How does the goat gestation calculator work?
Enter a breeding date and Herd Manager calculates the due date from the doe's breed-specific gestation length — around 145 to 155 days depending on breed. For pasture breeding, enter the exposure window and you get the full range of possible kidding dates. You can also set your own target gestation length per breed.
Can I plan breedings without recording them as actual breedings?
Yes. Planned breedings are a separate list — pair does and bucks for a future season, check the inbreeding coefficient on each pairing, add goals and notes, and print the whole plan. Nothing touches your real breeding records until you link a plan to an actual breeding.
Does it warn me about inbreeding?
Every planned pairing and breeding analysis shows a calculated coefficient of inbreeding (COI) from your pedigree data, with a match rating. The deeper your pedigrees, the more accurate the number — the software will also tell you when a pedigree is too thin to trust.
