Privacy Policy

Herd Manager App LLC ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our web application at herdmanager.app and our Android application available on the Google Play Store (collectively, the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials through Google Sign-In or email/password registration. This is managed through Firebase Authentication.
Farm & Herd Data: Information you enter about your goats, breeding records, milk production, health events, financial records, and other herd management data. This data is stored in Firebase Firestore and is associated with your account.
Payment Information: If you subscribe to the Unlimited plan, payment is processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number โ Stripe handles all payment data.
Usage Data: We collect basic usage information including your last active date, device type, and browser for product improvement and support purposes.
Feedback & Support: If you submit feedback or bug reports through the app, we collect the content you provide along with basic device context (browser, screen size, current page) to help us understand and reproduce issues.
Photos & Files: Screenshots attached to feedback and goat photos you upload are stored in Firebase Storage associated with your account.
Push Notification Tokens: If you opt in to push notifications, we collect a Firebase Cloud Messaging device token so we can send you reminders for kidding alerts, vaccinations, tasks, and other in-app events. You can disable notifications at any time from Settings โ Notifications.
Marketplace Messages: Messages you send through the in-app marketplace messaging system are stored in Firebase Firestore. Both the sender and recipient can see these messages. We may also access them as part of moderation when a message is reported by a user โ see Section 4.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the Service
- Sync your data across devices
- Process subscription payments
- Respond to your feedback and support requests
- Improve the Service based on usage patterns and feedback
- Send important account notifications (subscription changes, security alerts)
- Send opt-in push notifications for herd reminders (kidding, vaccinations, tasks, etc.)
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your herd data for advertising purposes. We do not show ads in the Service.
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Messaging, and Storage) with servers located in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Firebase security rules restrict access so that only you (and any team members you invite) can read or modify your data.
Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI DSS compliant. We never see or store your full credit card number.
4. Data Sharing
We share your information only in these limited circumstances:
- Public Farm Profile: If you choose to create a public farm profile, the information you designate as public (farm name, description, location region, breeds, listed goats) will be visible to other users and the public.
- Marketplace: Goats you list for sale and products you list are visible to other users.
- Community Pedigree Registry: Pedigree data you choose to contribute is shared with other goat farmers as a community reference. You can choose to contribute anonymously.
- Service Providers: We use Firebase (Google) for hosting, data storage, and push notifications, and Stripe for payment processing. These providers have their own privacy policies.
- Moderation: If another user reports a message you sent, our team reviews the message content as part of our moderation process. Reported content and your account history may be retained for our internal records, even if your account is later deleted.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.
5. Your Rights & Choices
You have the right to:
- Access your data: Export all your herd data from Settings โ Export Data.
- Correct your data: Edit any information in the app at any time.
- Delete your data: Delete your account and all associated data from Settings โ Danger Zone โ Delete Account, or visit our account deletion page for instructions including how to request deletion if you can't sign in.
- Control public visibility: Choose what appears on your public farm profile and marketplace listings.
- Cancel your subscription: Cancel anytime from Settings โ Subscription. No data is deleted upon cancellation.
- Disable notifications: Turn off push notifications anytime from Settings โ Notifications, or via your device's notification settings.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data and herd records are permanently deleted within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely. Some financial transaction records may be retained as required by tax and accounting law.

7. Cookies & Local Storage
The Service uses browser local storage (IndexedDB) to enable offline functionality and store your herd data locally. Firebase Authentication uses cookies and local storage for session management. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the app or sending an email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
